NFL Week Seven Review And NFL Week Eight Betting Tips

NFL Week 8 Betting Tips

One of the great things about the NFL is its unpredictability. The famous phrase starts “On Any Given Sunday, any team can beat any of the others…” and over the last couple of weeks of action we have seen evidence of that.

While these shock results keep things very interesting, they are a bit of a nightmare for my tips, which dipped below 50% for the first time this season on a single game week.

Impressing this week with good wins were the Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots.

We had several games go down to almost the last play of the game to decide the winner and a stunning rookie QB debut in the NFL from a former Division 2 college quarterback who went undrafted in the summer.

We also saw a legend head coach guide his team to a huge and unexpected victory.

As you will see from how poorly I did in my tips this week, there were more than a few upsets, so remember that as you could get some good value odds on upsets this week too. Any odds shown in this article are provided by bet365 Sport.

Not only that, but they were also correct at the time of writing too, but may have changed since the article was first published.

After six teams having a bye week last week, this week sees no team have their rest week, which means a full state of games to pick from again on NFL Week Eight.

But before we do that, let’s take a look at how things panned out in Week Seven in the NFL.

NFL – Week Seven Results

Jacksonville Jaguars 31-24 New Orleans Saints

Detroit Lions 6-38 Baltimore Ravens

Las Vegas Raiders 12-30 Chicago Bears

Cleveland Browns 39-38 Indianapolis Colts

Buffalo Bills 25-29 New England Patriots

Washington Commanders 7-14 New York Giants

Atlanta Falcons 16-13 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Pittsburgh Steelers 24-17 Los Angeles Rams

Arizona Cardinals 10-20 Seattle Seahawks

Green Bay Packers 17-19 Denver Broncos

Los Angeles Chargers 17-31 Kansas City Chiefs

Miami Dolphins 17-31 Philadelphia Eagles

San Francisco 49ers 17-22 Minnesota Vikings

The 49ers have not won on the road against the Minnesota Vikings since 1992. They are 0-7 in Minneapolis over the past 31 years.

Betting Performance From Last Week –

Winners (Season Total Winners) – 5 (58)

Losers (Season Total Losers)– 8 (33)

A dreadful week on the tips last week as I dipped below the 50% mark for the first time this season. In my defence there were plenty of surprise results this week and not really one of them went the way I expected. 5 out of 13 though is very disappointing.

With no byes this week, I am hoping to bounce back with my next set of tips below.

But first let’s take a look at some of the notable performers and teams of Week Seven in the NFL.

Three Notable Performances – Team

Chiefs Show Class In Dominant Divisional Win Over Chargers

Patrick Mahomes and his executioner in chief Travis Kelce were the difference makers once again as the Chiefs claimed another Divisional victory over the Chargers. It was a game of two halves, with the first half being very close as the teams traded touchdowns across four possessions. But after that Mahomes led his Chiefs to victory as the Kansas defense set up

New England Patriots Stun Bills as Belichick Defense Stifles Allen

The Patriots struck back from a poor start to the season by registering a stunning win over Buffalo. Another Bill Belichick gameplan as well as a much improved energised performance from the Patriots was the key to this stunning win and ensured Belichick got his 300th win as an NFL coach.

Cleveland Outlast Indianapolis by Single Point in 77-point Thriller

The game of the day saw Cleveland outlast the Colts by a single point, winning 39-38. The Browns may have conceded 38 points but it was a stunning effort from Myles Garrett on defense that probably was the reason they landed the win. The Colts were unfortunate in what was an exciting game, but this Browns team is for real, especially when you consider they played most of this game with their backup QB.

Worst Three Performances – Team

Toothless Lions Put To Sword By Jackson And The Rampant Ravens

Lamar Jackson led the Ravens to a thumping win over the Detroit Lions who put in one of their worst displays under Dan Campbell. Restricted to just two field goals, the Lions offense never got going against the Ravens defense, while the usually reliable Lions defense could not get near Jackson, especially in the first half.

Buffalo Stumble As Belichick Lands Career Win 300.

This was supposed to be the year the Buffalo Bills declared themselves as the best team in the AFC. However, a 4-3 start is far from the record of a top seed candidate. Bill Belichick schemed to take away Josh Allen’s most potent weapons and it worked as the Patriots contained the Bills Qb superbly.

49ers Slump To Second Defeat In A Row At Victorious Vikings

A couple of weeks ago, the San Francisco 49ers looked unbeatable. Two weeks later, after losses to the unfancied Browns and Vikings, they have fallen down the power rankings and are now just one win ahead of Seattle in the NFC West. QB Brock Purdy found it tough against the Vikings defense, which is a worry given their arsenal of weapons on offense.

Three Notable Performances – Individual

DE Myles Garrett (Browns) – 5 tackles, 2 assists, 2 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss, two forced fumbles, field goal blocked

Myles Garrett put on a defensive masterclass for the Cleveland Browns as they won their freescoring game with the Colts by a single point. The Browns may have shipped 38 points on defense, but they won the game because of Garrett who was everywhere on defense, as well as forcing a safety and blocking a field goal.

QB Lamar Jackson (Ravens) – 21/27 for 357 yards and 3 touchdowns, 1 INT, 9 rushes for 36 yards and a touchdown.

This was supposed to be a huge test for the Ravens against the impressive Detroit Lions, however Lamar Jackson led his team to a huge half-time lead and was imperious as a passer, as well as rushing when required to put the Lions to the sword.

QB Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) – 32/42 for 424 yards and 4 touchdowns, 4 rushes for 29 yards.

It says a lot about how good Mahomes is hat a 400+ yard, four touchdown performance isn’t that remarkable for him. Once again, the Chiefs quarterback was instrumental in leading his team to victory in conjunction with trusted Tight End Travis Kelce.

Performers of the Week – Week Seven

Team – New England Patriots

Offensive Player – TE Travis Kelce (Chiefs) – 12 receptions for 179 yards and a TD.

Defensive Player – DE Myles Garrett (Browns) 5 tackles, 2 assists, 2 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss, two forced fumbles, field goal blocked

Special Teams Player – K Dustin Hopkins (Browns), 4 FGs, 3 XP (15 pts total)

Rookie – QB Tyson Bagent (Bears) 21/29, 162 yards, 1 TD, 3 rushes 24 yards
